Case study: Petboarding
A booking and daycare system for pet boarding businesses — kennel planning, occupancy, billing and a customer portal in one place.
The problem
A boarding or daycare business runs on a paper diary: which dog is in which kennel, whose vaccination has expired, who still owes for last month. It works until it does not — a doubled booking, a missed payment, or an afternoon lost to admin instead of animals.
What we built
Petboarding, a booking system for boarding and daycare businesses. See it at petboarding.app or read the product page.
- Pet profiles — breed, vaccinations, feeding schedule, medication, weight and a photo, searchable in seconds.
- Daycare operations — a monthly calendar, prepaid packages, bulk approvals and automatic day deduction.
- A visual kennel layout where pets are dragged into kennels, with vaccination badges, capacity limits and food or medication flags in view.
- Occupancy and finances — an occupancy heatmap for capacity planning, plus billing that tracks unpaid bookings, invoices and payment history.
- Three roles — customer, employee, administrator — each seeing exactly what they need.
- Configurable to the business: its own pricing, opening times, optional services, blocked periods, holiday surcharges and email templates.
How it is built
A Vue and Quasar front end on a Fastify API — the same stack as our other work. It is a web application first: it installs as an app, works on desktop, tablet and mobile, runs in light or dark mode and speaks English or Dutch.
The result
- The kennel plan is on screen, with capacity limits and vaccination badges beside the pet being placed — so a full kennel or an expired vaccination is not discovered on the morning it matters.
- Unpaid bookings, invoices and payment history live in the same system that took the booking, so billing stops being a separate job.
- Customers arrange a stay without phoning, and the administration is a side effect of the booking rather than a task of its own.
